myra sack
FOUNDER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Myra Sack is the author of "Fifty-Seven Fridays: Losing Our Daughter Finding Our Way," and founder of E-Motion, a nonprofit organization created to support community, movement and ritual to enhance coping and resilience. Myra's life changed when her older daughter, Havi, was diagnosed with a fatal neurodegenerative disease in December 2019. Havi died on January 20, 2021 of Tay-Sachs disease. E-Motion evolved out of a new way of living with the most difficult reality, blending Myra's lived experience and knowledge as a Certified Compassionate Bereavement Care provider with her lifelong identity as an athlete and career in social impact. Myra holds an MBA in Social Impact from Boston University, and graduated with a B.A. cum laude from Dartmouth College, where she captained the women's soccer team and earned All-America honors. She has devoted over a dozen years to youth serving nonprofits, including serving as Chief Program and Strategy Officer at Squashbusters, Inc. and leading program development across Latin America for Soccer Without Borders. A writer, speaker, and activist, Myra serves on the Board of the Courageous Parents Network and lives in Boston, MA with her husband Matt, their second daughter, Kaia, and son Ezra. Her writing has appeared in numerous national outlets including the Boston Globe Spotlight, Today.com, and Upworthy.
sally rowland
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Sally received her B.S. in Finance and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Social Enterprise from Wake Forest University in 2015. Following graduation, she received the Fulbright Scholarship in South Africa to work at a high school where she focused on managing community partnerships, implementing technology into the classroom, and measuring impact. While in South Africa, she also worked at a local social impact consulting firm in Cape Town where she focused on supporting non-profits and government agencies to measure, report, and enhance their social impact. After South Africa, she moved to Boston, where she was first introduced to Myra and began working alongside her at SquashBusters, a sports-based youth development organization. While at SquashBusters, she was responsible for building the Post-Secondary and Career Program to support students in achieving their post-secondary and career goals. Sally has completed certificates in User Experience Design and Data Analytics and graduated from USC Marshall School of Business in 2022 with a master’s in Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainability. She is currently living in San Diego.
michal kenny
CLINICAL ADVISOR; MA, LHMC
Michal began her career as a vocational counselor with Community Health and Alternative Opportunities in Lynn, Massachusetts, where she later became a program director. She was a stay-at-home mom when her three daughters were young, and then continued her work at a group practice while growing a private practice in Winchester, MA, where she has been working with individuals, couples, and groups, for the past twenty years.
In 2018 her oldest daughter, Deane, died by homicide. In response, she has immersed herself in the grief community where she met and joined Myra Sack and Sally Rowland.
Michal brings her work experience, and understanding of loss, to the E-Motion Movement Community as a clinical advisor.
pepper joseph
COMMUNITY & PROGRAMS
Pepper recently received her B.A. in psychology and sociology from Colby College in 2024, where she was also a member of the varsity women’s soccer team. She was first introduced to Myra at a local bookstore in Hanover, New Hampshire, where Myra was giving a talk on her book, "Fifty-Seven Fridays.” Pepper was immediately drawn to Myra’s resilience and grace, and knew she wanted to be a part of E-Motion. She brings a creative approach to E-Motion, where she is responsible for marketing, communications, community engagement, and outreach.

Carl Lovejoy
A fixture in the independent school world for more than three decades, Carl is a passionate educator, administrator, and fundraiser.
A graduate of St. Paul’s School and Colby College, Carl served on the faculty at Kimball Union Academy, Cardigan Mountain School, Tabor Academy and St. Paul’s School. He currently works for Moosilauke Visions, a not for profit that develops, operates, and guides programs and wellness initiatives that support families struggling with mental health, developmental, and substance use related conditions.
Carl is honored to serve on E-Motion’s board and could not be more impressed with the work being done by the E-Motion Team.

Blyth Lord
Blyth Lord is the founder and Executive Director of Courageous Parents Network, a non-profit that orients, empowers and equips parents and others caring for children with serious medical conditions.
Blyth's daughter, Cameron, died of Tay-Sachs disease. Prior to founding Courageous Parents Network, Blyth worked as a television producer and she produced the award-winning film, Cameron’s Arc, with the American Academy of Pediatrics to educate primary care pediatricians in working with families from diagnosis through to the end of life. Blyth is a trustee of the Cameron and Hayden Lord Foundation which funds pediatric palliative care programming and research for treatments of lysosomal storage diseases.

Maria G. Rodrigues
Maria Guadalupe Rodrigues joined the inaugural E-Motion movement community to celebrate her son, Jairam, with other grievers. She and her husband, Ram, raised Jairam and his three siblings in Boston, though the family traveled often to Rio de Janeiro, Maria’s hometown. Maria has a Ph.D in Political Science, and has focused her research and teaching on environmental challenges in Latin America. As a member of the Board, Maria’s priority for E-Motion is that the organization remains sensitive to the enduring presence (or “agency” as she likes to call it) of our loved ones in our lives.

Kelsey Quick
Kelsey graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Dartmouth College, where she captained the women's soccer team. She has spent over a decade in high-growth tech start-ups in strategy & operations roles. Since 2019, Kelsey’s focus has been on mental health. She spent 4 years at Spring Health and nearly a year consulting at Headspace. She believes deeply in E-Motion's work.
Kelsey is passionate about mental health, women's health, the power of sport for good, leadership, and building high-performing teams with strong, diverse cultures. She currently lives in San Francisco and is exploring her next venture at the intersection of mental and women's health.

Michelle Notkin
Michelle has served on the Sutter Health California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) Foundation Board since 2013 and is currently Vice Chair. She and her father, Shelby Notkin, founded The Notkin Family Breast Cancer Recovery Program at CPMC in honor of their family members who passed from breast cancer.
Michelle's son, Zach, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 10 months old. She has raised millions for research and been honored twice by JDRF. Michelle holds a degree from UC Berkeley and enjoys tennis and art. She brings extensive account management experience in direct marketing/advertising and financial services marketing.
